Corporate Responsibility
We recognize we do not operate or succeed alone. We realize the importance of maintaining connections to the local and national communities, and have made stewardship and accountability priorities in both internal operations and external partnerships.
NCC is a minority-owned business enterprise, and we have a Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Policy that we use to empower our employees and partners, strengthen our communities, and protect the planet. NCC’s Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Policy encompasses four areas: Supplier Diversity, Workforce Diversity and Inclusion, Community Support and Charitable Outreach, and Energy Efficiency and Waste Reduction.
NCC is proud to partner with and promote non-profit organizations whose missions we support. We value the communities in which we work and live and are excited to provide financial and volunteer assistance to facilitate the operations of the groups below.
The Children’s Inn at NIH
The Children’s Inn at NIH is a “place like home” for children with serious medical needs. It was established in 1990, and since that time nearly 15,000 children and their families from all 50 states and around the world have stayed – free of charge – at the Inn. After spending their days in treatment at NIH, the children return to the Children’s Inn to spend time with their families and the compassionate staff and volunteers, participating in recreational and educational activities.
We have proudly supported The Children’s Inn since 2013, serving as a sponsor first for The Children’s Inn Gala, and since 2014 for An Evening For Hope.
Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC)
AFAC provides nutritious supplemental food assistance to Arlington County residents in need. AFAC utilizes the Choice Model, meaning it allows families to choose which foods they take rather than being handed a pre-packaged bag of groceries. This model is proven to decrease waste, as people are more likely to eat foods of their own choosing. AFAC obtains produce from local area farms and farmers markets on a weekly basis, ensuring freshness for distribution to those in need. In addition, AFAC offers a variety of breads, meats, and canned goods.
NCC began its affiliation with AFAC in 2012. Through NCC’s support and donations, we hope to contribute towards AFAC’s goal of making their money go as far as possible to feed over 4,300 unemployed or underemployed members of the Arlington community. NCC employees have volunteered at AFAC’s distribution center and also as AFAC ambassadors at community events including the Shirlington Wine and Jazz Festival.
U.S. Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce (USPAACC)
The U.S. Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce (USPAACC) is the nation’s largest non-profit, non-partisan organization representing Asian American-related groups in business, sciences, the arts, sports, education, and public and community services. The organization’s mission is to work with its members to achieve prosperous contracting relationships and growth in the marketplace. NCC joined USPAACC in 2012 and was honored at the CelebrAsian Business Opportunity Conference in 2012 and 2013 in recognition of being ranked among the Fast 50 Asian American Businesses. Since 2013, we have presented the National Capitol Contracting USPAACC scholarship to one Asian American high school student annually.
National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC)
