On Thursday, April 28, 2011, NCC was contacted by Optimum Audio to provide CART services for Georgetown University’s Interfaith Deaf Conference, held annually to discuss current topics in the deaf Muslim community. The conference was scheduled for 9:30 am Saturday. The following afternoon, an NCC AV associate arrived on site at the McCarthy Hall to test equipment and verify telephone and data network connectivity for a remote CART event.
By 8:30 am Saturday morning, an NCC stenographer was connected to the room’s audio feed, standing by to enter text. An hour later, as the first speaker gave opening remarks, the nearly 80 attendees were able to view his statements as words displayed on a projector screen in real-time, thanks to NCC’s state-of-the-art CART application, LiveWrite.
